Construction Environmental Coordinator

Bechtel is seeking a Construction Environmental Coordinator to be responsible for ensuring environmental compliance during construction for Bechtel and its subcontractors, as well as execution and integration of environmental requirements and management systems for the Daunia project. 

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Interpreting specialized requirements (legislation and permits), evaluating and applying scientific principles and methodologies suitable for achieving desired objectives, and resolving any noncompliance on site.
  • Coordinating appropriate consideration of environmental requirements with sub contracts, engineering and construction personnel.
  • Provides environmental technical support and assistance to Project and coordinates environmental requirements and formulation of mitigation measures with project assigned personnel, engineering leads, construction supervision and management and onsite ESH representatives during construction.
  • Participates in meetings with customers, project team members and contractors to advise them of environmental requirements that may affect construction, project design, schedule and cost.
  • Responsible for implementation and annual review of Environmental compliance plans, Construction environmental control plans, project specific mitigation plans, environmental awareness training programs and technical repots.
  • Provides recommendations and input for revising ESH procedures, work processes and other quality improvement measures.
  • Conducts environmental compliance inspections of project construction activities to monitor compliance with environmental requirements including contractual commitments, permits and the projects CECP.

Qualifications required for this position:

  • Advanced knowledge in a field of science, environmental engineering or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of environmental science systems, principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of national environmental laws, regulations, permitting processes and responsibilities, industry standards for environmental compliance and best management practices for minimizing potential environmental impacts during project execution
  • Experience in working with or providing technical oversight of environmental subcontractors or consultants.
  • Prior practical work experience in a field environment, performing the above responsibilities.
