Safety Advisor

This includes the mining & mineral processing, chemicals, oil & gas and industrial processing industries.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Safety Advisor to join our team at UGL Resources based at Roxby Downs - Olympic Dam Operations.  UGL Resources is the principal contracting partner to BHPBs ODO Major Maintenance Project group. MMP is responsible for the execution of capital works and maintenance programs with TIC values between $500,000 and $20 million.

Reporting to the Construction Manager you will lead the safety team and provide assistance to the Supervisors in the continuous improvement of safety strategies and taking accountability for safety performance. This position plays a key role in ensuring MMP meets its HSSE performance targets for this contract.
On a daily basis you will:

  • Drive the Unsafe philosophy and growing the ‘zero harm’ culture
  • Ensure that compliance to the site Safety Management Plan is delivered and maintained
  • Facilitate Incident investigations, preparation, reporting and presenting of root cause analysis and prioritized remedial action plans
  • Provide advice and support to the site team in all matters relating to HSSE
  • Analyze HSSE statistics, report on trends and recommend improvements
  • Developing & executing plans and actions necessary to raise employee awareness of risks and to reduce, avoid and protect employees from hazards in the workplace and out on any customer site
  • Ensuring that there are no environmental issues on site
  • Monitor HSSE legislation, compliance status, workplace hazards, incident trends, program efficiencies, and internal staff including client requirements to identify changes that may affect our Programs 


Possessing well developed communication and reporting skills, you are an HSSE champion, committed to the goal of zero harm with extensive experience in the resources sector.  This is an excellent opportunity for development within a growing company, with an attractive remuneration package and conditions.
The successful applicant will have:

    • Minimum 10 years in a mining construction Health and Safety role - mineral processing, mining, petrochemical/ oil and gas industry.
    • Extensive Knowledge of processing plants and construction methods.
    • EPCM experience
    • Extensive experience with appropriate statutory codes and OHS Regulations
    • A Tertiary Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety Management or equivalent
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
