Environment Officer


McArthur River Mining Pty Ltd operates a zinc-lead-silver mine in which 2.2 million tonnes of ore is extracted each year. McArthur River Mine is Fly-in, Fly-out based from Darwin, and is located in the Gulf of Carpentaria region of the Northern Territory.

Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, you will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the environmental aspects of project operations, carrying out regular inspections and ensuring the project is delivered in accordance with the environmental management plan.

As a suitable candidate you should have a good understanding of State and Federal environmental legislation and compliance requirements as well as having good written communication skills to produce quality environmental documentation.   Furthermore, your verbal communication skills should be second to none as you will be required to liaise with contractors, communities, local aboriginal groups and government departments.

Ideally, you should be tertiary qualified in Environmental Science / Engineering, or Natural Resource Management.  Also, you will have at least 2 years experience in implementing, maintaining and improving environmental management systems in the mining industry. You should also be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel, an ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders from different backgrounds, and an ability to work autonomously.
